Sad Spotify

I am sad to anounce that spotify, one of my favorite music gadgets is changing as of the 1st of May. The free part of the service will become much more restricted. From that date on you will be limited to 5 plays of any one track and a much more limited play time. This is sad as it was very useful and enjoyable mainly because of its search engine.

Bank Account Fraud

I received an email, correctly addressed to me from Santander alerting me to the fact that due to them detecting unusual activity on my account they had restricted access to my account. This email also included a link to them to correct matters.

Being a sceptic through and through I went to my account directly but not using the provided link, to find that my account was as normal sitting quietly almost empty but without restriction or unusual activity.

Yet another scam but a convincing looking one.

Email Password

If you have been alerted by someone in your contacts list that you are sending spam, try changing your email password it could be the simple cure.

Virus, Malware, Rootkits and Trojans

If you have real problems with infection and can't get rid, I have tested StopZilla and by running it over and over again I managed to remove a realy bad infection the computer is now running fine.

It's £20 but it is worth it if your stuck. It works. It removed 33 the first time then 17, 11, 1, and hey presto all gone.

Being a big user of Opera Browser/Mail and always messing up my system I needed a backup program. Luckily someone else did as well and here it is.

NDAS Drive

I have installed a new 64bit win7 computer on our work network and hey presto nothing works. Most annoyingly the NDAS net drive. The reason, it transpired is that every computer on the network must be using the same version of the drivers. But the win7 computer needs the 64bit driver so I visited the ximeta web site to get the drivers. Be warned the wrong driver will install, but does not work and won't tell you why. Be warned also that most problems are caused by older drivers and some programs not working with a 64bit processor, you might want to check your programs and equipment (scanners, printers ect) first.
